Sofa Table

November 3, 2024

This month I built a sofa table for the lounge.

I made it out of solid birch butcher block, one of my favorite materials for furniture projects.

Getting the initial cuts perfectly square is the only really challenging part of this build.

I joined it with exposed dowels and finished it with water-based rub-on polyurethane, which preserves the bright color of the birch.

I sanded lightly between 6 coats, which thankfully dry in less than an hour each.

Now I have a place for magazines, books, candles and small instruments.

I used adjustable height legs I got off Amazon, which worked perfectly to ensure the table sits exactly level.
