Floor Beam

Today Peter and I placed the beam that will support the loft floor.

This 22 ft. 5-1/4 in. x 16 in. LVL beam weighs over 500 lbs.

We attached hoists on each side to the steel rafter directly overhead, which made for a very easy direct vertical lift.

The now free furniture dollies were immediately used as skateboards.

Once up, we nailed it into the vertical boards that stick out the top of the side walls.

I provided twice the minimum bearing to distribute the weight over a larger on the floor.

Finally, we added some temporary bracing, just to be extra careful.
