Ceiling & Interior Wall Insulation

September 4, 2022

Drywall installation is about to being, so spent spending Labor Day weekend getting ready. Other than clearing everything out to make space, I needed to add rockwool insulation to the ceiling and interior walls.

These packs of 2 ft. x 4 ft. x 3.5 in. semi-rigid batts will go in the ceiling and downstairs interior walls. There are also a large number of packs of 16 in. x 4 ft. x 3.5 in. semi-rigid batts for the lobby ceiling.

I’ve had this insulation in bags, stored all around the studio, for over a year.

These bats are rigid enough they do not need to be mechanically attached, just pressed into the ceiling and wall bays.

I was able to cover the whole ceiling, skipping only a few tight spots where there were too many obstructions.

The material is very easy to cut, but also itchy and tends to shed nasty little chunks all over you as you press it in overhead.

Thankfully my calculations were accurate enough that I had minimal waste was was able to cover the ceilings and interior walls.
