Spray Foam Insulation

June 22, 2020

This weekend I got spray foam insulation on the walls.

Yesterday the insulation installer came by and put some paper and plastic down to avoid overspray making too much of a mess.

Early this morning he sprayed the wall cavities with at least 1″ of closed cell foam, which adds at least R7 of insulation and makes the walls air tight.

The rafters will be closed in with a glued-down continuous layer of R13 rigid foam insulation.

The ceiling will also be sprayed once I’ve closed it up.

The foam is impressive, it’s very stiff. In fact, once applied, it actually makes the walls stronger.

The next layer of insulation will go in after electrical and HVAC are roughed in.
