Siding Started

July 29, 2017

Today we put up insulation and siding on most of one wall.

I had the option to pay more for rigid insulation. Within a few minutes of working with the fiberglass and trying to install siding over it, I regretted deciding against it.

The insulation made the siding much harder to install. We had to hang it from the top using carpet tape and then compress it against the girders as we drove the screws.

Only three in four self-tapping siding screws successfully self-tapped before becoming dull. I’m concerned we may run short.

We checked every panel to ensure it was plumb.

I can already tell that the siding is going to be the worst part of this process.

I expect having to work around the door will take a lot more time.
