Basement Framing

My father came from California to visit, hoping to help me with the studio. Then a week-long storm moved in. We ended up working together on the basement instead, which I didn’t mind at all since it’s so nice and cool down there.

There will be a space under the stairs for the kids to play. They are very excited about this feature.

We’re adding two rooms to our house by finishing about half of the basement. One room will be a craft room.

It took my father and I four and a half days to frame out the basement. At least two of those days were spent on these soffits that conceal plumbing and ventilation.

The other room will be a media room. I learned most of what I know about construction by helping my Dad with projects growing up. It was really fun to build something with him again.
