Open-cell Spray Foam

September 3, 2021

This week the open-cell foam was added to the wall cavities.

The cables are now encased in the foam, so I had to be very sure I was done wiring.

The expansion rate of the foam is very high, so I was glad I secured cables in walls.

They overshot the foam, resulting in more waste than expected, but they didn’t charge me for that.

Once the foam was in, the next step was to trim it back.

It took two days for one guy to trim the walls back by hand.

This left a giant pile of foam bits, which were then broken up and vacuumed out.

The studio is much less lively sounding, as the closed-cell foam is much more rigid.

The walls are now ready for drywall.
