New Ridge Cap

After the recent wind storm damaged the ridge cap, I decided it was time to not just repair, but to completely replace the ridge cap with a new one.

This wood structure made of 2x4s and 1x3s is directly attached to the steel purlins that support the roof.

The roofers first created a wood structure to support the new ridge cap.

The new ridge cap is made of three pieces, a flat wide strip on each side and a small bent cap covering where they meet.

The new material is white, which matches the trim, but not the roof. I think it looks good, but I’m still getting used to it.

The cap and rake trim on the left side from this had come off too, but were thankfully in good shape.

They were able to reuse the trim parts that ripped off on the back side by straightening out the bends here and there.

The building now officially looks different from space.

It wasn’t really the way I had hoped to spend a few thousand dollars on the studio this month, but I’m really glad the roofers were able to do such a good job in such a short period of time.
