Collar Ties & Interior Walls

Today Peter helped me get some collar ties and an interior wall up.

We used both a laser level and an 8 ft. spirit level to ensure the correct placement of each collar tie.

We got all but the last two collar ties up. The final two will go up when the final rafters go up. I’m keeping them off for now to leave a space to get rigid insulation sheets above the ceiling.

The walls are splayed at a 6.4ยบ angle. Like the other walls, the studs are spaced 24 in. OC. However, since they are not exterior facing nor load-bearing, I used 2x4s as opposed to the 2x6s used everywhere else.

Then we built and erected the wall between the lobby and the electrical/storage closet.
