Today started out quite tense. The roofers Adam had lined up showed up before Adam could get there, and I had to try and get them started. We struggled to read the plans and slowly pieced together a process for installing the roof.
Once Adam arrived, I was able to step back and relax a bit. I was very excited to have the roof finally going on, but I was also worried it might not work out well, or one of the workers might hurt themselves as they walked the steel beams without any safety equipment to prevent them from falling to the ground.
Once they got the hang of it, and it was clear that I was getting in the way more than helping, I went inside the house. I perched myself in a spot where I could observe from the second floor and tried to get some work done.
By the end of the day, they had completed more than half of the roofing, and were confident they would be able to finish tomorrow morning.
I’m less tense now. But it’s not over yet.
