Building a recording studio in New Hampshire

Rained Out

My father came all the way from California to visit, specifically to help me build finish the steel frame of the studio. As luck would have it, however, the timing of his flights ended up being right in the middle of a storm. I had to cancel my grand studio construction plans for the weekend, but it turned out to be a great opportunity to make some progress on the basement. It was also quite nice to work in the cool basement, rather than the humid heat we were having.

There are two rooms in the basement we are finishing. One is a craft room, that’s about 15ft by 20ft. This is where we will move all of our homeschool materials and art supplies that are currently in storage or making a mess in our dining room.

The other room is a media room, where we will move our TV and video games which currently dominate our living room. We really prefer not to have out house centered around the TV, so this will be a great way to move that activity into its own space. Also, in warm weather, it will be a nice place to get away from the heat.

We were able to complete the framing in the 4.5 days of work together. Thanks for all your help Dad, it was really fun to build things together again.
